University Of Chicago Press has recently published New School Professor Victoria Hattam’s book, “In the Shadow of Race: Jews, Latinos, and Immigrant Politics in the United States.”
Awarded the Ralph Bunche Award from the American Political Science Association, the book, which can be found here, recovers “the history of [the] entrenched distinction [between race and ethnicity] and the divisive politics it engenders” and does so by examining “the origins of ethnicity in the New York Zionist movement of the early 1900s.”
