What’s the matter with Capitalism?

A symposium confronting contemporary capitalism, examining the ways in which the dynamics of accumulation, dispossession, and social reproduction shape – and are shaped by – the movements of people, substances and ideas.

Discussions will be organized in three panels, where students will present their work and discuss it with Professors. The panels are Households, Infrastructure and Markets, respectively at 1pm, 2.45pm and 4.30pm, all at Room 902 at 6 East 16th St.

Keynote speech by Professor Timothy Mitchell, Professor of Middle Eastern Studies at Columbia University, at 6.30pm at Wolff Conference Room (6 East 16th St, Room 1103), with a reception to follow.
