Andreas Lichtenberger is currently a Ph.D. student in Economics at The New School for Social Research. Before coming to NSSR, he was studying socio-ecological economics and policies in Vienna. Driven by concerns for social and environmental injustice, he is doing research in the fields of political economy, macroeconomics and ecological economics. He is currently a research associate in the project on “Climate, Capitalism and Collective Need” where he investigates how capitalist dynamics feed into environmental commodification and which carbon removal policies would most adequately combat climate change.
