2018-2019 Graduate Student Fellowships

ANNOUNCEMENT: Dissertation and Thesis Fellowships

The Robert L. Heilbroner Center for Capitalism Studies is pleased to invite doctoral and master’s candidates in any discipline at the New School for Social Research to apply for a fellowship to support dissertation or thesis research and writing during the 2018-2019 academic year. Students may be considered for one semester of support ($2830) or two semesters of support ($5660). Successful applications will propose projects that aim to analyze and address real-world problems, generate visionary theoretical concepts, or advance long-term and global perspectives on capitalism as a major structuring force in contemporary society.

During the period of their fellowship, recipients will:

 be registered and remain in residence

 participate in Center programming

 collaborate with other fellows to organize a year-end symposium where they will present a paper

 submit a posting based upon their research to Public Seminar before June 30,
2019.

Proposals of no more than 2 double-spaced pages should include:

 a narrative which explains the project’s engagement with capitalism as an
analytic concept and/or as an object of social, political, or historical inquiry and
critique.

 a timeline that identifies the work to be completed during the fellowship period

 a CV (of no more than 1 page) which identifies the names and contact
information of thesis or dissertation committee members and the amount of
any other awards or fellowships received for the 2018-2019 academic year.
