Our colleague Professor Darrick Hamilton was recently featured in the Washington Post for his “Baby Bonds” proposal, wherein each American baby would receive between $500 and $50,000 at birth. These funds would be placed in a bond, untouchable by both family and child until the recipient’s 18th birthday. Funds could be used to pay for college, start a business, or buy a home.
