Lydia is a Politics PhD student at the New School for Social Research. Drawing from her background in law, policy, and social activism, she’s trying to find ways of thinking about the political economy of monopolistic technology platforms, AI and machine learning technologies, and discourses around the future and uncertainty. Since moving to New York from New Zealand in 2015, she’s worked at the United Nations, and as part of her MA, conducted research on co-working spaces, freelance labor dynamics, basic income policies, and voice recognition technologies.
