Julián Gómez-Delgado is a Ph.D. Student in Sociology and Historical Studies at The New School, where he studies how capitalist development, social conflict and state formation are related and played out in Cold War Latin America, with a particular focus in Colombia. As a Heilbroner Fellow, he will explore how ideas and practices about capitalist development changed through the experiences of Cold War reform projects, and in what ways national and transnational actors were involved. This project aims to comprehend a global process of political and economic transformation in which the roles of public and private actors in defining reforms and also in the orientation of the government were altered.
Julián holds an M.A in Social Science with a specialization in Sociology from El Colegio de México. He earned his Bachelors degree in Sociology from Universidad Javeriana and in Economics from Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia.
