Ethan Dunn is an MA student in historical studies at the New School for Social Research. Ethan received his BA in history from Hamilton College. His research has sought to place histories of information and communication technology within the contexts of global political economy, imperialism, and working class politics. His current project investigates the use of office technologies (adding machines, transit machines, book-keeping machines, and typewriters) by banks in the United States at the turn of the 20th century. This project aims to uncover the role of information technology, statistical knowledge, and clerical labor in the rise of American imperialism and financial capitalism.
