Ella Coon is a Richard Hofstadter fellow in Columbia University’s doctoral program in History. Coon holds a BA from Columbia University (2016) and an MA in Historical Studies from The New School for Social Research (2019), where she was a 2018-2019 graduate student fellow at the Heilbroner Center. Coon works broadly at the intersection twentieth century US history, international political economy, and histories of science and technology. Her latest project considers the global reach of the US computer industry in the 1960s and 1970s and the role intellectual property rights played in shaping then contemporary global value chains. Moreover, this project touches on her long-standing interest in questions of corporate sovereignty and the political economy of multinational firms.
