Aditi Dey is a historian, urbanist and political scientist in the making. Born and raised in New Delhi, she has worked in cities like Mumbai and Bangalore, before starting her PhD research at the New School for Social Research. Her doctoral research examines the politics of technology and urbanisation in India, studying historically the ways in which deindustrialization of tech manufacturing and the decline of stable work have paved the way for high-tech cities such as Bangalore. She specifically focuses on the political economy of state-owned tech industries during the decolonization era and how its unravelling shaped the technological sector and labor geography of Bangalore. Apart from her research, she spends a lot of time being up to speed with popular culture, really average podcasts and all kinds of music.
